Itinerary

Day 1: Copenhagen
Arrive in Copenhagen and transfer to your city-center hotel. Today, we suggest you relax, catch up from jetlag and stroll the Størget - the pedestrian walking street - to experience the true flavor of the Danish people. Try dinner at the festive Tivoli Gardens.

Day 2: Copenhagen
After tasting the first of many wonderful Danish breakfasts, we recommend a guided sight-seeing tour of the city. Visit the Little Mermaid, Royal Palace Amalienborg, Christianborg and the newly designed Opera House. Take the afternoon to explore the art museum and have dinner in picturesque Nyhavn along the canal.

Day 3: Copenhagen - Odense - Pick up your car rental
Today's journey begins with a drive to the oldest town in Denmark, Roskilde. We suggest you visit the Roskilde Cathedral, the monument of the patrimony for UNESCO, and the final resting place of more than 30 kings and queens. Continue on to the Viking Ship Museum to see the longest ancient vessel ever found. End your journey by crossing the bridge over Stora Bält to Nyborg and the island of Fyn, then on into Odense, home of the famous Danish writer, Hans Christian Andersen.

Day 4: Odense - Hvedholm - Egeskov - Hvedholm Castle 
Rise and enjoy another fulfilling breakfast before driving to Egeskov castle.  This is a privately owned Castle, featuring a very large collection of antiques, cars motorcycles, airplaners and more.  Continue to Bøjden boarding a ferry to Fynshav. From here, we recommend you continue across  the island of Als, to Ribe. Enjoy the environs, with narrow streets lined with small houses, all in an array of colors.  At Ribe check in at the dagmar Hotel. enjoy a dinner and perhaps join the Night watchman on his historic rounds of ribe Town center, telling stories and singing songs of the past.  This is a nice way to take an evening stroll through the oldest town in Denmark.

Day 5: Hvedholm Castle Bøjden/Fynshav - Ribe
Enjoy breakfast and a leisurely morning perhaps visiting Faaborg and even Svendborg before continue to Bøjden boarding a ferry to Fynshav. From here, we recommend you continue across  the island of Als, to Ribe. Enjoy the environs, with narrow streets lined with small houses, all in an array of colors.  At Ribe check in at the dagmar Hotel. enjoy a dinner and perhaps join the Night watchman on his historic rounds of ribe Town center, telling stories and singing songs of the past.  This is a nice way to take an evening stroll through the oldest town in Denmark.
Day 6: Ribe
After breakfast, you will have the whole day to enjoy this fascinating city. We suggest that you check out the oldest town hall in Denmark, Det Gamle Rådhus, which wraps around the 12th-century cathedral. Other things to do: Visit the Ribes Vikinger, a museum reflecting the daily life in the Middle Ages, or take a boat trip to the small island of Mandø with only 700 inhabitants.
Day 7: Ribe - Ålborg
Rise and shine for your journey along the Vesterhavet road to Limfjord, better known as "Snapserutten," the schnapps road. Once in Ålborg, you can see how schnapps is made and why the Scandinavian people so enjoy it!
Day 8: Ålborg - Skagen - Ebeltoft
Today's drive heads to the northern part of Jylland, Skagen. Here sits "Den Tilsandede Kirke", better known as the church covered in sand. Dating back to the 19th-century, many painters and artists have come to Skagen to admire the natural light of the town. From here, we suggest you take the panoramic trip to Grenen, the northernmost point of Denmark. Try lunch at one of the fishermen's cottages for a regional specialty, "Stjerneskud." Maybe take a visit to the Skagen Museum before heading back south southeast to Ebeltoft.
Day 9: Ålborg - Ebeltoft
After breakfast, take a drive along the Limfjord to the second largest city in Denmark. The main attraction here is Den Gamle By, with its 60 well-reconstructed, old Danish houses all displayed in an open-air museum. Be sure not to miss the immense cathedral with its many frescos.  Continue to Ebeltoft Strand Hotel for your last night
Day 10: Ebeltoft - Tirstrup - Copenhagen - Home
After breakfast and a leisurely morning, drive to the airport at Tirstrup, a 20 minute drive, checking in the car before boarding the short flight to Copenhagen,  departure is approximately at noon.  At Copenhagen you make an easy transfer to the fligh back to the US.
