Itinerary (suggested self drive or group travel)

Day 1, Sunday
Depart USA for Copenhagen

Day 2, Monday
Arrival CPH on and transfer to the domestic terminal for flight to Aalborg. Transfer to the Radisson Limfjord Hotel. Welcome dinner in Jomfru Anegade, Aalborgs famous restaurant row.(D)

Day 3, Tuesday
After breakfast (we are trying to get an invitation to be inducted into the CHR.IV Guild - and if successful -) we will walk to Duus Wine Cellar at 0900am. We MUST be seated 15 minutes prior to the induction ceremony's beginning! You will be inducted in the world famous Chr. IV Guild. After the ceremony we may be invited to the Town Hall, and meet the Mayor. Lunch and the afternoon is on your own to explore. The Budolfi Cathedral is very nice and right next door to the Mayors office. The ones wishing to visit the Archives may do so on their own.(B)

Day 4, Wednesday
After breakfast we take a morning city tour. Have a lunch on your own in the city before we go to Royal Copenhagen for a tour of the porcelain factory. Return to the city for a farewell dinner in Tivoli Gardens. Overnight at Absalon Hotel. (B/D)

Day 5, Thursday
After breakfast we drive to Noerre Snede to visit the Kjeldsens's Cookie factory. We will stop for lunch en-route at a small Danish inn. After lunch we will continue to Legoland for a visit at the Legoland park. This visit will take about an hour and 45 minutes. The group will continue to Vejle Centre Hotel wor the overnight. Dinner on your own, and it is possible to walk into downtown Vejle, about a 10 minute walk, to dine at a local restaurant. (B/L)

Day 6, Friday
After breakfast we continue on to Ribe. Check into the hotel Dagmar for the overnight. You can have a stroll on your own exploring this 1000 year old village. Dinner will be at a local restaurant across the street or in the hotel. After dinner at 8:00pm we will take a walking tour with the "Night Watchman" who will guide us through the old town of Ribe. Day 7, Saturday
After breakfast we will drive over to Romoe a small island off the west coast in the North Sea. This island is a quaint little vacation community with very wide white sandy beaches. From there we continue to Schackenborg Manor House, the residence of Prince Joachim and Princess Alexandra. There we can stop for lunch at the local Inn. After lunch we will continue to Soenderborg. We over night at Hotel Scandic in Soenderborg. (B/L)
Day 8, Sunday
After breakfast we drive from Soenderborg over Als a small peninsula, where we catch a ferry from Fynshav to Boejden. We visit Egeskov Castle in the afternoon. We will see the park, the Maze, the Museums, playground and Castle. We continue to Odense and check-in at the Hans Christian Andersen Radisson SAS Hotel. We will have a diner at Den Gamle Kro in Odense, a short walk from the hotel. This hotel has a Casino if anyone is interested in charming lady luck. (B/D)
Day 9, Monday
After breakfast the morning is free to explore Hans Christian Andersen's home and Museum. We will depart about 11:00am for Roskilde. When we get there we can enjoy a snack or a Danish hot dog or whatever you desire, on your own, before we visit The Cathedral, where the Royal Family for generations have been placed in their final resting place. After the Cathedral we will visit the Viking Ship Museum nearby, seeing how the Vikings over 1000 years ago managed their seafaring ways. Afternoon we depart for Elsinore and check into the Marienlyst Hotel. It is possible to take a short boat ride from Elsinore Harbour over to Sweden and stroll around in Helsingborg. It is quite nice. You may wish to take dinner on board the Ferry on your own. The hotel also has a casino if anyone is interested. (B)
Day 10, Tuesday
After breakfast you can stroll the very nice small walking street in Elsinore, before we go to Kronborg Castle (Hamlet's Castle) for a 1 ½ hour tour. We will see a magnificent Castle overlooking the Oeresund Strait. After the tour we continue to Gilleleje Harbor visiting with the Mayor at his office (if he is home). We will go down to the Church at Gilleleje showing how the Danish Jews were hidden before shipping them across to Sweden, saving them from capture by the occupying German Forces (Oct 1943). See the boat that belonged to the old Fisherman Niels Sorensen, one of the brave fishermen who carried out the daring crossing amidst German patrol boats. Lunch is on your own in the quaint little fishing harbor, where you can enjoy the fresh catch of the day. After leaving the harbor we will make a brief stop at the library and see the memorial statue offered the village by the President of Israel. From there we will continue into Copenhagen. If time permits we can make a brief stop at Frederiksborg Castle, today a National Museum. We will check into the Absalon Hotel in the heart of Copenhagen, just three blocks from Tivoli Garden. Dinner is on your own. (B)
Day 11, Wednesday
After breakfast the bus departs for Frederikshavn and Skagen. We will visit the museum at Skagen, The Sand Covered Church and have lunch at Harbor on your own. Early afternoon continuing to Loekken, where we will enjoy an afternoon cup of coffee and a Danish pastry. Late afternoon we return to the hotel in Aalborg. Dinner is on your own. (B)
Day 12, Thursday
After Breakfast the morning and mid day is on your own for last minute shopping. The Bus will pick us up at about 1:00pm for the transfer to the airport. The SAS flight leaves for Chicago at 3:30pm. Arrival at O'Hare is at 5:40pm
