California, Nevada Arizona
Day 1, San Francisco
Afternoon arrival and transfer to the Vintage Court Hotel near Union Square. A welcome dinner will be held at a local restaurant on Fisherman’s Warf.
Day 2, San Francisco
After breakfast on your own your bus and English speaking guide will take you for a city tour, visiting The Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, China Town. You will also have the opportunity in the afternoon to jump on the famous Cable Car. In the afternoon we will visit the old Spanish Mission
Mission San Francisco De Asis, (Mission Dolores) one of the oldest buildings in San Francisco. We will continue to the Norwegian Seamen’s Church where this early evening we will try to arrange a fellowship at the Norwegian Seamen’s Church in San Francisco.
Day 3, Napa Valley and Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.
After breakfast on your own we will start our road trip visiting the famous wine country Napa Valley. We will visit the Robert Mondavi Winery, for a tour and a taste. We will continue to Three Rivers, visiting Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Although the High mountain passes are not open, the road to Giant Forest is open all year around. Overnight in Three Rivers Area.
Day 4, Lake Tahoe and Reno
After breakfast, the bus will turn towards Lake Tahoe and Reno, Nevada Here we will overnight. Casino visit on your own.
Day 5, Las Vegas
After breakfast bus continues to Las Vegas.
Upon arrival at Las Vegas we will check into the Circus Circus Hotel on the strip or similar.
Day 6, Las Vegas
After breakfast we will take you for a brief city tour, showing you the wedding chapels, - the “Elvis” Wedding and the Liberace Museum. In the afternoon you can explore this Oasis in the Nevada desert. We will book a show for this evening.
Day 7, Las Vegas - Hoover Dam – Hualapai/Supai Indian Reservation, Arizona.
After breakfast our bus will take us to the Hualapai/Supai area, stopping at the Hoover Dam, which is on the way. After a tour of this facility we will continue towards the Grand Canyon country and the Colorado River Basin.
For those in good condition we can start a hike down the mountain a 2 to 4 hour walk and overnight in Supai Indian Reservation at the floor of the Canyon. This is a primitive experience, but will give you a true feeling for the life in this vast canyon country. For those who are not up to a strenuous hike you can stay at the Lodge at Hualapai, enjoying the desert and canyon scenery from there.
Day 8, Hualapai to Grand Canyon.
After breakfast and the Hiking group return to the top, a good 4 hour trip. After an overnight in the canyon, we continue to The Grand Canyon. Here we check into the Best Western Hotel Grand Canyon.
Day 9, Grand Canyon – Sedona Valley
After breakfast we spend a leisurely day seeing the Canyon from above.
Late afternoon we drive to south Sedona for an overnight. On the way we will stop and have a traditional Barbeque dinner prepared at a local restaurant. Overnight in Sedona at the Best Western Hotel.
Day 10, Sedona – Solvang, California.
After breakfast the bus takes us back to California, making our next stop
at Solvang, the Danish settlement. This is a long drive and we will pass through the infamous Death Valley. Here we will meet the local Danish community leaders.
Day 11, Solvang - Santa Barbara
After breakfast we will have a tour of the Danish Church in Solvang, meet
The Mayor and the Danish community, seeing also the Danish Old Peoples Home. Mid day we will drive south to Santa Barbara, the beloved home of our late President Ronald Regan. At Solvang we will stop and see the old Mission Santa Barbara. Overnight in Beautiful Santa Barbara Bay. Dinner on your own on the Pier.
Day 12, Los Angeles Universal Studios and Hollywood
After breakfast we will drive south to Universal Studios, spending the remainder of the day there. We will board the bus and drive on into Hollywood, through Downtown Los Angeles to Orange County for the overnight.
Day 13, Optional visit with the Danish Community - or day free for beach.
After breakfast we will meet with the Danish Pastor at the Danish Lutheran Church in Yorba Linda. Here we will again be able to meet with some of the local Danish Church community leaders, getting the story of this amazing church congregation.
Day 14, Disneyland La Jolla San Diego optional nightlife tour of Tijuana Mexico.
After breakfast we will make a stop at Disneyland. Late afternoon the bus will continue south To La Jolla California, before driving into San Diego. For those who would like, we will take an evening trip to Tijuana Mexico, for a little look at this vibrant Mexican Border town. Dinner in Tijuana before returning to San Diego.
Day 15, San Diego
After breakfast we will visit the Mission Basilica San Diego before going to Sea World spending the remainder of the day there. We will have a farewell dinner at a local restaurant in San Diego.
Day 16, San Diego - Home
After breakfast we have the morning free for a little last minute shopping. At noon we transfer to the airport for our flight back home, San Diego Chicago to Copenhagen on SAS.
