Chicago and The great Lakes Circle Tour –
Lake Michigan and Lake Superior - a self drive tour!

Day 1, Friday

Depart Copenhagen on SAS for Chicago at 1540.  Arrival at O'Hare at 1740.

Upon arrival you are met and transferred to the hotel downtown.

After check-in join for a welcome drink at the 96th floor in Hancock Building

a short walk from your hotel.  Dinner on own, Overnight at Hotel to be advised.

Day 2, Saturday

After breakfast on your own, Join a city tour of Chicago.  You will participate in

the opening of the Board of Trade, and drive by such sites as the Sears Towers,
Museum of Natural History, The Sheds Aquarium, The Magical Mile – Michigan
Avenue and The Art Institute.

The afternoon is free to explore on your own.  You may wish to have lunch at The
new Millennium Park.   Welcome dinner at Tommy Gun’s Garage, a Chicago
style Al Capone hangout.  Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3, Sunday

After breakfast on your own, free time for shopping on the Fabulous Magical Mile
Michigan Avenue.  You may wish to explore the Art Institute or the Museum of Science
and Industry, Navy Pier and more.    Dinner on your own. Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 4, Monday

After breakfast on your own, the bus will depart for the tour around the Great Lakes.

First Stop is Rapid City Michigan.   We will drive through town and continue North
to Traverse City for our overnight.  There is quite a bit of Scandinavian immigrant
history in this area.  Dinner on own at the hotel or a local restaurant.  Hotel to be advised.

Day 5, Tuesday.

After breakfast on own, tour continues to MacKinnaugh Island,  This is a unique little
preserved community, which we know you will enjoy.  Lunch on own.  Afternoon we will
continue and cross into Canada where we will stop at Sault St. Marie for the overnight.

Dinner on own at the hotel, or at a local restaurant.  Hotel to be advised.

Day 6, Wednesday

After breakfast on your own we will have time for a guided tour to see this city before
continuing west along the north shore of Lake Superior.  We will drive to Thunder Bay
a small town on the Canadian lake shore.   Here we will explore Thunder Bay and overnight.

Dinner on your own and Hotel to be advised.

Day 7, Thursday

After breakfast on own the bus will continue back across the border into The upper Peninsula

Of Michigan and into Minnesota.  We will drive into Minneapolis for the overnight.  Dinner on
own and hotel to be advised.

Day 8, Friday

After breakfast on own we will join a guided city tour seeing the largest Mall in America,
The Mall of America.  The afternoon is free to explore on your own.

Dinner on own and hotel to be advised.

Day 9, Saturday

After breakfast on own, we will meet with local people from the Scandinavian Community
hearing a little about their stories as Immigrants or their forefathers immigration to this
great land.  We will participate in a Barbeque dinner at a local restaurant. 
Overnight at the hotel.

Day 10, Sunday

After breakfast on own the bus will head south along the Mississippi River crossing back into
Illinois at Galena, a very idyllic little town on the River, the home of General Ulysses S Grant. You will have time to explore the antique shops and more, before we continue to Madison Wisconsin for the overnight.  Dinner on own hotel to be advised.

Day 11, Monday

After breakfast we will have a tour of one of the great University towns, The University of Wisconsin, before continuing to Rockford Illinois for our last evening.  In Rockford we will again be met by the local Scandinavian Community.  Overnight at hotel to be advised.

Day 12, Tuesday

After breakfast on own we will drive back to Chicago O’hare airport for flight home.
