Day 1    ARRIVAL IN COSTA RICA
Arrival at the Internacional Airport Juan Santamaría.
Transfer to the hotel. Lodging: Hotel Occidental Torremolinos or similar. 

Day 2    TOUR TO THE INBIO PARK
Interpreted trails through groups of plants from three ecosystems: Tropical Humid, Central Valley and Tropical Dry Forests. Permanent exhibits where visitors can appreciate poison arrow frogs, tarantulas, stingless bees, bullet ants, bromeliads and orchids. 

*Butterfly garden.
* Lagoon and aquarium.
* Unique sculpture exhibition inspired in nature by one of Costa Rica’s leading artists.
*Costa Rica’s wild protected areas lights and sound presentation. 

The visit is complemented with exhibition halls including multimedia and audiovisuals, where visitors learn about Costa Rica’s biodiversity, as well as a series of important activities developed in the field for its conservation, scientific research, and sustainable use. The exhibits also show Costa Rica’s efforts to conserve its biodiversity through the establishment of protected areas, such as national parks and biological reserves. INBioparque also offers restaurant, gift shop, coffee shop, information and documentation center.

IN Bioparque is located just 15 minutes from downtown San José and 20 minutes away from Juan Santamaría International Airport, in Santo Domingo de Heredia.  Lodging:    Hotel Occidental Torremolinos or similar.  

Day 3    SAN JOSÉ – TORTUGUERO
Leave your hotel in the morning. Admire the biodiversity of an astonishing protected area in Costa Rica as we drive by Braulio Carrillo National Park, a primary forest in 95% of its extension. Have a taste of our delicious Costa Rican breakfast en route. Be our special guest in a banana processing and packaging plant and learn more about one of Costa Rica's prime products (subject to availability). Board a comfortable boat upon arrival to the port and let this extraordinarily exotic paradise enchant you, as you travel along the Tortuguero Canals. Have a one-in-a-lifetime experience in this unique place surrounded by a great variety of flora and fauna of breathtaking beauty.

Enjoy a refreshing cocktail and a delicious Lunch as we welcome you to PACHIRA LODGE. After lunch, we will visit the museum, the beach area an the small and picturesque town of tourtuguero. Day 4    TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK 
OPTIONAL MORNING TOUR: Enjoy nature its best as you undertake a journey through the canals at dawn, and take your best short of a real Caribbean sunrise. 
Discover Costa Rican flavors as you enjoy breakfast at PACHIRA LODGE. 
Get ready to hike Tortuguero Hill or travel along the well known Tortuguero Canals and have the experience of your life in this unique paradise of magnificent flora and fauna. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the lodge. Take your time to enjoy our private trails, ride a boat through the canals or just relax.  Lodging:    PACHIRA LODGE or similar.  

Day 5    TORTUGUERO – SAN JOSÉ 
Breakfast at the lodge. Departure to San José. Lunch en route. 
Arrival in San José late afternoon. Lodging:   Hotel Occidental Torremolinos or similar.  

Day 6    SAN JOSÉ - ARENAL NATIONAL PARK AND VOLCANO AND TABACÓN HOT SPRINGS – LA FORTUNA
In the morning the seat-in transfer to La Fortuna is scheduled. 
In the afternoon you will enjoy the volcano tour. The Arenal Volcano is an active and almost perfect cone 1,633 high, whose explosive eruptions of very viscous lava at night provide an extraordinary spectacle. It is a conical stratovolcano of very recent origin, which started erupting again in 1968 with a big explosion that formed a crater half way up the cone and gave off glowing clouds of gasfluidized material that caused a great deal of destruction. In 1975, it shook again with four explosions that threw up great clouds of ashes. Since becoming active again, it has emitted over 60 lava flows and the interesting phenomenon of forest succession can be seen on some of them.

In addition to the volcano, you will also enjoy the beauty and soothing feeling of Tabacon's hot springs, waterfalls, 12 mineral pools and indoor jacuzzi. Each pool varies in temperature and depth, and some vary in mineral count. Lodging:    Hotel Arenal Paraíso or similar.  

Day 7    ARENAL HANGING BRIDGES 
This is a new tourist attraction of La Fortuna of San Carlos located only 4 km  western of Tabacón in a reserve of 250 hectares of primary forest. The visit to the Hanging Bridges of the Arenal consists of a crossing on 15 bridges with a lenght between 5 and 100 meters that cross the tropical humid forest and a circuit of 3 Km of paths built in adoquín to avoid slidings. You will experience an impressive view of the rivers that are born in the reserve. This is a very entertained way to appreciate the biological wealth that is found in the reserve.  The bridges built in aluminum, steel galvanized and concrete, assure the maximum security to ours visitors. They were designed by expert engineers with a factor of security 5, complying thus the most exacting margins of security of the world.  Through appreciating the biodiversidad of flora and fauna with the imposing view of the Volcano from the hanging bridges inserted in the forest, you will enjoy the perfect combination of an unforgettable experience.  Lodging:    Hotel Arenal Paraíso or similar.

Day 8    LA FORTUNA – JACÓ BEACH
Seat-in transfer to Jacó Beach. Lodging:     Hotel Balcón del Mar or similar.

Day 9    CHICLETS TREE CANOPY TOUR – MANUEL ANTONIO
This canopy tour is located at Hermosa Beach in Jacó in front of the hotel Terraza del Pacífico, only 45 minutes from the Manuel Antonio National Park. It is one of the longest and safest canopy tour of the country nestled in one of the few remaining transitional forest of Costa Rica. The tour consists of 13 suspended platforms connected with eleven steel cables and suspended bridge high above the forest floor. The total length is around 1.200 meters. The height of the platforms varies from 60 to 120 feet above the ground. Using the highest quality equipment (pulley, harnesses and climbing gear) you will glide between platforms on the cables with a breathtaking view of the canopy, forest and animals. The tour lasts approximately 2 hours.  Lodging:    Hotel Villa Teca or similar.  

Day 10  COASTAL SEA KAYAKING 
A challenging open ocean paddle along one of Costa Rica´s most beautiful coastlines. Nearby islands are nesting sites for boobies and frigatebirds. We stop for swimming and snacks in isolated Biesanz Bay and we lunch at the end of the trip, near the National Park of Manuel Antonio.   Lodging:     Hotel Villa Teca or similar.

Day 11  MANUEL ANTONIO
Day at leisure to enjoy the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean.  Lodging:   Hotel Villa Teca or similar. 

Day 12  MANUEL ANTONIO – TAMARINDO BEACH
Seat-in transfer to Tamarindo Beach.  Lodging:     Hotel El Jardín del Edén or similar. 

Day 13  TAMARINDO BEACH
Days at leisure at the beach. You can book an optional leatherback turtles tour at the reception of the hotel. It costs approximately $ 40 including English speaking guide. See separate files for Playa Grande (turtle nesting area) and information about the leatherback turtle.  Lodging:   Hotel El Jardín del Edén or similar.  

Day 14  TAMARINDO BEACH – SAN JOSÉ 
Seat-in transfer back to San José.  Lodging:    Hotel Occidental Torremolinos or similar.  

Day 15  SAN JOSÉ – Departure
Pick up at the hotel and transfer to the International Airport Juan Santamaría.
