
29 Day Grand Tour of Indo China with Eastern & Oriental Express Train
and the Orient Express Road to Mandalay Cruise
Day 01,
Depart USA for Tokyo.
Day 02,
Arrive at Tokyo making a direct connection to Singapore. Arrival at Singapore at approximately midnight. Upon arrival go through formalities and take a taxi to the hotel. Recommend the Raffles Hotel.
Day 03,
After breakfast our guide will meet you for a tour of the Harbour. This can be re-arranged for the afternoon if you prefer. After approximately 3 hours you will be returned to the hotel. The remainder of the day is on your own. After lunch you may wish to visit the Singapore Zoo and have afternoon “high Tea” with an Orangutang. After dinner you may want to stop off at the "Long Bar" at the Raffles Hotel. This is where the world famous "Singapore Sling" was invented.
Day 04
After breakfast join a city tour of Singapore prior to checking in at the terminal for the Eastern and Oriental Express Train for Malaysia and Thailand.
Day 05
After breakfast at your hotel you will be picked up by our guide for a morning city tour, visiting China town and seeing the sights of the former colonial rule. At noon time you will be back at the hotel for lunch on your own. The early afternoon can be at leisure for shopping. Mid afternoon you will be picked up for your transfer to the railway station for check-in at the Eastern & Oriental Express terminal for a departure at 14:45pm. You will make the first stop at Kuala Lumpur, where dinner will be served after departure from Kuala Lumpur. (all meals are included on the train).
Day 06
After breakfast you will arrive into Butterworth - Penang. At near noon you will continue up the Malay Peninsula into Thailand. Enjoy the wonderful scenery from the observation car, perhaps spend some time in the observation car lounge or the library lounge, mingling with the fellow passengers.
Day 07
After arriving into Hua Hin in the early morning, breakfast will be served. You will continue to Bangkok where arrival is scheduled at 2:45pm. Lunch and afternoon tea will be served on this leg of the journey. Upon arrival into The Bangkok Railway Station you will be met by our guide who will transfer you to The Royal garden Riverside Hotel - a Marriott Hotel. Dinner is on your own. It can be recommended to take a dinner cruise on the river, boarding right at the hotel pier.
Day 08
After an early breakfast you will be met and transferred by private car, to the airport, for your early morning flight on Thai International for Yangon, Myanmar (Burma). There you need to go through formalities and check-in again for your Air Mandalay flight for Mandalay. You will be met by your guide and transferred to your ship, the most luxurious river craft on the Ayeyarwady River. Lunch will be served on board. In the afternoon you will enjoy a city tour of Mandalay, returning to the ship for dinner. Your cruise begins.
Day 09
After breakfast you have an early morning tour to Sagaing. Continue the cruise to Bagan with lunch on board. In the afternoon cruise the Ayeyarwady River and enjoy a cocktail party and dinner on board.
Day 10
After breakfast arrive at Bagan. There will be a morning orientation tour. Lunch on board. You can take an afternoon sunset tour or explore Bagan on your own. Dinner will be served on board.
Day 11
After breakfast disembark the ship and transfer to the airport for your Air Mandalay flight departing for Yangon. Yangon you will be met by our guide who will take you for a city tour, to include lunch at The Strand Hotel. Late afternoon transfer back to the airport for your Thai International flight for Bangkok. At Bangkok your guide will meet you and transfer you to The Royal Garden Riverside Hotel. In Bangkok you will meet our guide from Turismo Thai our partner company in Thailand, and the guide will be at the right side end of the arrival hall, where tour groups generally meet. He will wear a badge showing the name Turismo Thai.
Day 12
After breakfast early bus tour to Ayuthaya the ancient capital and ruins. Continue to the Summer Palace
and see these gardens "Versaille" of Thailand. Board the Pearl of Siam for 3 to 3.5 hr cruise down Chao Phya River to Bangkok. Lunch served on board.
Day 13
After breakfast take a morning tour to Grand Palace, Lunch on own, afternoon join a rice barge cruise
through the Klongs and see how the people live. See a rice farmers house. Drinks served on board.
Day 14
After breakfast private transfer from Marriott Hotel to Bangkok DOMESTIC AIRPORT departure for CHIANGMAI. You need to be at airport 2 hours prior to departure. At Chiang Mai our guide will meet you for a private transfer to the Sheraton Chiang Mai Hotel. In the afternoon take a half day tour to Doi Suthep & Meo Doi Pui: Visit the most sacred temple in the north of Thailand, the Wat Prathart Doi Suthep is the most sacred temple in Chiangmai containing a holy relic of the Lord Buddha. Tucked away in the mountains at an elevation of 1,056 meters (3520 feet), the temple is reached using a Naga (7- headed dragon head serpent) railing rising along both sides. King Gue-Na built the monastery in 1383. The center is a big chedi (spiral pagoda), containing partial relics of Lord Buddha. The temple compound - reachable via a 300+ steps stairs offers an exhilarating view of Chiangmai city and surrounding countryside. A visit to the nearby hill tribe village of the Meo people completes this day
Note: Please dress respectfully by not wearing sleeveless T - shirts, shorts or strapless sandals, when visiting the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep.

Day 15
After breakfast take a private tour to the ELEPHANT Camp seeing the elephants at work. You will also visit an ORCHID FARM. This is a 30 kilometers drive to the Mae Sa Elephant Training Center to see elephant at work and visitors can be wondered of a formidable demonstration how these trained elephants are used to help the local community in logging work, in a jungle area north of the city. End the tour, gazing at the various species of orchids at a close-by orchid farm.In the afternoon you will be returned to the airport for your flight back to Bangkok. Departure is at 7:15pm.At Bangkok you will walk over the bridge to the Amari Hotel and check in. Dinner on your own.
Day 16
After early breakfast take a morning flight to AngkorWat, Cambodia (Siem Reap International Airport) You will meet our English speaking guide, then transfer to visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom, visit Bayon, Baphuon, Phimean Akas, Elephants and Leper King Terraces. Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Angkor Wat and watch sunset view from the top of Phnom Bakheng Hill. Dinner and Overnight at the Sofitel hotel.
Day 17
Breakfast at hotel, visit Prasat Kravan, Banteay Kdei, Sras Srang, Ta Prohm, Ta Keo, Thommanun and Chau Say Tevoda. Lunch at hotel. In the afternoon, excursion to visit Pre Rup, East Mebon, Ta Som, Neak Poan and Preah Khan Temple. Dinner and Overnight at the Sofitel hotel.
Day 18
Breakfast at hotel, visit the Silk Farm, Roluos group : Preah Ko, Lolei, Bakong Temple and Artisans d’Angkor. Lunch at hotel. In the afternoon, visit the artificial lake ( Cambodian Cultural Village ). Early evening take a flight to Phnom Penh and overnight at the Cambodiana Hotel.
Day 19
After early breakfast city tour of Phnom Penh visiting also the museum of the Killing Fields, before transferring to the airport for flight to Vietnam. Upon arrival at Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). You will be met upon arrival and taken to The REX Saigon Hotel. The Guide will meet you for a late afternoon city tour visiting Cholon and the China town district, The old Imperial Palace and the war Museum. Dinner is recommended at the French Vietnamese restaurant VY.
Day 20
After breakfast take a full day tour to Tay Ninh, via the Chu Chi Tunnels. You will arrive back into Saigon early evening and have dinner at Madam Dai's restaurant. Madam Dai is a personality from the war period, when she served the South Vietnamese government as a senator, the U.S. government as a liason and probably the North in some capacity. We will try to get you an audience with her as she is extremely interesting, although nothing can be guaranteed.
Day 21
After breakfast take a full day excursion south to the Mekong Delta. You will now experience the end of the Mekong River after it has passed through Laos, Thailand and Cambodia. This territory is the rice bowl of Indo-China, and an area heavily contested during the Vietnam War era. On return to Ho Chi Minh City you will enjoy a dinner on the river, the floating restaurant, unless you decide to change that arrangement. Anytime you wish to make changes, please arrange that with your local guide. Since this is your last night in Saigon, you may wish to take a drink on the roof top terrace bar at The Rex Hotel.
Day 22
After an early breakfast transfer to the airport for your Vietnam Airlines flight for Danang. Upon arrival at Danang you will be met by our guide and take a city tour, visiting the Museum of Cham Sculptures before continuing the drive up the coast to Hue. After checking into the Century Inn Hue and having lunch you will visit Tu Duc and Kjhai Dinh's Tombs. Your dinner will be at the hotel.
Day 23
After breakfast you will take a boat trip on the Perfume River, visit the Thien Mu Pagoda and the Old Royal Palace. Lunch will be served. You will have a little free time for shopping before going to the airport for your flight Vietnam Airlines Flight for Hanoi. There you will be met by our guide and transferred to the Hotel Metropole, if space is available, or similar. Dinner will
be at the hotel.
Day 24
After breakfast you will have a short city tour, visiting Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, One - Pillar Pagoda, Sword Lake ruins of Co Loa Citadel. Lunch and afternoon is on your own to stroll around the city.
Day 25
After breakfast our guide will transfer you to the airport for yopur flight to Vientane Laos.our Guide will transfer you to Settha Palace Hotel for overnight.
Dinner: Hotel
Day 26
After Breakfast at the Hotel our guide will take you for a City tour of Vientiane. After lunch on your own you will transfer to airport for the afternoon Lao Airlines flight to Luang Prabang the ancient capital. This is a World Heritage site. Guide will transfer you to the hotel, to be advised.
Day 27
After breakfast our guide will take you on this world heritage tour of the city and historic areas. Lunch: Own arrangement. Afternoon: Tour Ancient Capital and World heritage sites.
Day 28
After Breakfast at the Hotel. Morning at leisure. Aftrenoon your flight returns you to Bangkok, Thai International or Bangkok Airways flight. Upon arrival check into the airport amari Hotel for your overnight.
Day 29
After early breakfast walk over to the check in counters and check in for your return flight home.
