Eastern and Oriental Express

INTRODUCTION
Throughout Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, the train opens up the hidden secrets of the countryside like a lotus blossom. And no train is more redolent of the romance of this deeply traditional way of travel than Eastern &Oriental Express.
This is no ordinary train. Designed to withstand the rigors of climate and terrain, it will carry you in style and comfort on a journey you will always remember.
From its air-conditioned and luxurious carriages, watch the world glide by; a world of warm welcomes and gentle people, of temples and traditions, aromatic spices and charismatic smiles, in which ancient religions and timeless superstitions contrast vividly with the modern preoccupations, pace and pressure of some of the most exciting and progressive cities on earth.
In South East Asia, tradition and subtlety meet commercial and contemporary reality head-on. The result is endlessly fascinating and always surprising, a melting pot of memories and experiences, heightened by the fact that you are viewing the countryside from an ideal vantage point - The Eastern & Oriental Express.
Eastern & Oriental Express was designed and perfected through years of experience. A train for the tropics, it has a number of pleasing refinements which ensure your complete comfort.
Your cool, spacious and air-conditioned compartment is lavishly appointed with rich, inlaid woods, antique brass fittings and large windows, which offer excellent views of the ever-changing countryside. Crisp bed linen, refreshing en suite showers...everything combines to help you unwind and prepare for the challenges and excitements of your next destination, excursion, river trip or shopping expedition.
Whatever your needs or requirements, a steward is at hand to attend to them. We want your journey to be effortless, your energies conserved for nothing but enjoyment.
The atmosphere on board Eastern & Oriental Express is refined, yet informal. Each morning a breakfast of freshly baked croissants, coffee, tea, juice and fruit is delivered to your compartment at a time to suit you. After a leisurely shower you may simply choose to relax or join other guests in our open-sided Observation Carriage. From here you can enjoy the tropical scenery to its best advantage.
Lunch is a leisurely affair while afternoon tea is in true colonial style, with aromatic Earl Grey tea and cakes recalling the simple pleasures of a gracious era.
Then on to dinner in our opulent dining car where sparkling crystal, subdued lighting and French silverware set the scene for delicious Eurasian cuisine, with its subtle sauces and spices finely balanced by our expertly chosen wine list. A cognac in the Bar Car, perhaps, while the piano plays softly? You may intend to go to bed early, but it's so easy to fall into pleasant conversation...
